Troubleshooting

The AI Platform Cannot Connect

Check the Connector URL

Use https://your-site.com/wp-json/windcodex-forge/v1/mcp with your public HTTPS address.

Test the REST API

Open https://your-site.com/wp-json/ in a private window. If it errors, a security plugin or firewall is blocking it.

Allow /.well-known/

OAuth discovery uses /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server/wcforge and /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/wcforge.

Refresh permalinks

Settings → Permalinks → Save Changes.

Use the static client

Paste the Client ID and Secret from the Connection tab into the platform's Advanced/OAuth settings.

"The MCP connector is currently disabled"

Connector status is off under General. Turn it back on.

A File Cannot Be Read

wp_read_file reads only inside wp-content and only text files. Paths outside it, including wp-config.php, are refused.

A Database Query Is Rejected

Only a single SELECT statement is accepted. Remove any trailing statements, and use Forge Pro if you need to write.

Query Results Are Truncated

Results are capped by Max results per list call (default 50, up to 200) under General. Ask the AI to paginate with LIMIT and OFFSET.

Screenshots Fail

wp_take_screenshot uses a public service, so the page must be reachable from the internet. Local, staging behind a login, and password-protected sites cannot be captured.

Rate Limit Errors

The default is 120 requests per minute per user. Raise it up to 600 under General.
