Overview

WindCodex Forge gives Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP-compatible AI assistants a small set of general-purpose, read-only tools for understanding a WordPress site: installed plugins, the active theme, registered hooks, files inside wp-content, database structure and data (SELECT only), Gutenberg blocks, and cross-conversation memory.

Forge is entirely free, needs no license key, and has no write tool and no code-execution capability. That is not a setting to be careful with: it is not present in the code. Every tool is tagged readOnlyHint.

Forge is one of two WindCodex AI product lines. Ops runs a fixed list of safe actions on live sites. Forge is for developers who need an AI to inspect code (this plugin) or write and run it (Forge Pro, for staging sites).

Key Features

Site introspection - plugins, active theme, registered hooks, screenshots, static page inspection, recent connector activity, and design-authority detection.
File read - browse and read files inside wp-content (themes, plugins, uploads).
Database read - arbitrary SELECT queries, table listing, and schema introspection.
Content blocks (read-only) - read a Gutenberg block's structure by position and list reusable blocks.
Memory - save notes that a future, separate conversation can recall.
Revocable OAuth access, WordPress Abilities API support, and a rate limit.
